Janhvi Kapoor and Ishaan Khatter can make their Bollywood debuts with this week’s Dhadak, but this does mean that they had to sacrifice their education for a shot at movie stardom. Listen to them speak about it.
Dhadak stars Janhvi Kapoor and Ishaan Khatter exposed about being ‘seriously uneducated’ in a new interview. Talking with entertainment journalist Rajeev Masand, both said that they’d only completed high school and not gone on to get a graduate level.
The interview was taking place in a class room set-up and Janhvi expressed nervousness at returning to a university environment, because she felt like she ‘would have to provide an exam’. “We’ve never been in this position, facing the school,” joked Ishaan. Both Ishaan and Janhvi are making their Bollywood debut with Shashank Khaitan’s Dhadak; Ishaan was before seen in Beyond the Clouds directed by Iranian auteur Majid Majidi.
Masand then asked them the ‘unavoidable’ question: Experienced they completed their education before venturing in to the movie business? “I studied till Category 12,” said Janhvi, “I actually studied in an IB school. So I never went to college. I’m severely uneducated.” The International Baccalaureate Diploma Program is a two-year educational program primarily targeted at 16 to 18 year olds.
“Neither does I,” Ishaan chimed in. “I did my A-levels (UK educational levels) and then I chose to break free of traditional academics and study what I wanted to.” The duo then performed a boogie to the popular number using their film, Zingaat.
Both Janhvi and Ishaan belong to film backgrounds. Janhvi is the little princess of developer Boney Kapoor and the past due screen icon, Sridevi, and Ishaan is Shahid Kapoor’s 50 % brother.
Several Bollywood legend kids are expected to become listed on the film business exactly like their parents, but one of the most visible ones, Shah Rukh Khan’s little princess Suhana, will have to complete her education before she requires the top step. SRK has been clear about having just one mandate for all his children: Complete your education first
