Comerica Area is one of 10 stadiums on the co-headlining tour, which includes puts a stop to at Chicago’s Wrigley Field and Boston’s Fenway Playground. The bands will swap out opening and closing slots throughout the head to, though there’s no phrase yet on the working order in Detroit.
Quest and Def Leppard previous teamed up in 2006, an extended North American run that included shows at DTE Energy Music Theatre and Grand Rapids’ Vehicle Andel Arena.
Individually, Trip and Def Leppard continue to be strong amphitheater attracts, and DTE has been the go-to local vacation spot for each band in recent years. Together, they’ll aim to fill Comerica Playground, which can hold about 40,000 for large-scale concerts.
The timing of the July 13 show will require a quick turnaround for Comerica Park staffers and Live Region production staff: As announced the other day, Zac Brown Group is scheduled to try out the stadium the next night.
The Tigers’ groundskeeping squad will then have a few days to revert to football setting, with the team scheduled to come back to Comerica Recreation area to meet up with the Boston Red Sox on July 20.
