New COUNTRY music from Taylor Swift is here! The performer is presented on Sugarland’s new keep track of ‘Babe,’ which she co-wrote, and you can take a listen right here!
Taylor Swift and Sugarland’s cooperation is everything we wished and even more! The track, “Babe,” which is included on the country duo’s upcoming recording, premiered on Apr 20, and we already can’t get enough. Since Sugarland disclosed their album’s trail list on Apr 12, we have been dying to hear the Taylor duet, and they didn’t make us hang on long. The track was actually written by Taylor herself, along with Pat Monahan from Teach. It’s the only record that Sugarland’s Jennifer Nettles and Kristian Bush didn’t play a hand in writing themselves!
Followers of Taylor performed some sleuthing recently and discovered that this music was actually written years ago, it just never made it onto one of Taylor’s albums. Within a 2013 interview with ABC Information radio, Pat discussed songwriting with Taylor, and disclosed they had written a music called “Babe” alongside one another. It didn’t make it onto her 2012 record, Red, but at the time of the interview, he was hopeful that it could show up on the re-released deluxe version of the record. That never came about, but it appears like, each one of these years later, Taylor has finally found a home for the song!
“She reached away,” Jennifer informed Billboard at the ACM Honours on April 15. “She was excited we were getting back mutually and reached away and said, ‘Hey, I have a melody.’ That is clearly a short list, women and gentleman, of individuals to whom she’s said, ‘Hey, I have a songs, you want to sing it?’ So we said, ‘Yeah!'”
So, if “Babe” was essentially written for the Red recording — who could it be about?! Jake Gyllenhaal? Conor Kennedy? Maybe even Joe Jonas? We’re going to have to listen extra closely to decipher this one!
