Rishi Kapoor lashed out at director Anurag Basu after the lukewarm response to boy Ranbir Kapoor’s new film, Jagga Jasoos. Getting in touch with him irresponsible, the professional said that Basu does not complete films promptly. In an interview with Mid-Day, Rishi Kapoor also slammed music composer Pritam.
“Till Wed, Anurag Basu was still mixing up the film. Can you envisage that? Pritam (composer) probably shipped the music only weekly before. What can you say? You do not take an view from anybody. Today’s filmmakers are doing this with everybody. They don’t show their movies before release to have opinions, and address it as though they’re making a nuclear bomb. I didn’t hate or love the film. I only sensed it would have to be abridged by 20 minutes. But who’s going to give that thoughts and opinions to them? I totally agree with Ekta (Kapoor) when she threw him out from her film. He previously problems with Rakesh Roshan while focusing on Kites (2010). He’s such an irresponsible director that he doesn’t complete the film. It had been supposed to release 3 x in the past 2 yrs, but it stored getting delayed.
Asked about why the film wasn’t released in some international markets promptly, Rishi Kapoor again blamed Basu’s delays. “It did not release in Singapore because you have to provide it five times beforehand. It didn’t release in the Gulf on Thursday because it was only delivered to them on Thursday. This is unreasonable and irresponsible. You may be pondering you are making the Taj Mahal, nevertheless, you are supposed to make it ready on time. Even Pritam delays his submissions. [It was later promoted as] a kids’ film. But, a kids’ film also has release a at the right time, like through the school vacations. In those days too, Anurag Basu wasn’t ready. There’s economics and maths included. Everything is not just about ingenuity.”
“You may be the largest director on the planet,” he said, “but nobody wish to work with you because you are irresponsible. There is certainly someone else’s money involved with this. I trusted you, and this is what you give us? Ranbir hasn’t placed back on investing in it. You even threw Govinda from the film. Unless you want Govinda to work in your film, why does you ask him to begin with?”
