Priyank Chopra’s creation Pahuna premiers at TIFF, receives standing ovation BY SAEED NASIR

Debutante director Paakhi A Tyrewala’s film Pahuna – THE TINY Tourists received a status ovation as it premiered at the Toronto International Film Happening on September 7th.

Pahuna – The Little Visitors is Paakhi A. Tyrewala’s first feature film after her acclaimed short film Kajaal. Pahuna will also be India’s first feature film in Sikkimese language. It will be dubbed in Hindi.

Paakhi says, “Pahuna had not been a fairly easy film to rear. Nor did it follow rules of commercial theatre or follow celebration norms. Cant say thanks to Priyanka and Dr Chopra when planning on taking it to the entire world stage.”

The film – a tale about three Nepalese children who get segregated from their parents, break free the Maoists’ agitation in Nepal and flee to Sikkim – received an over whelming response from the global audience.

Produced by Priyanka Chopra’s Crimson Pebbles Productions, Pahuna – THE TINY Visitors – had its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) on September 7.
