Deepika Padukone says playing Queen Padmavati has been one of the most memorable functions of her job.
Deepika Padukone takes on Rani Padmavati in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmavati.
Deepika Padukone said she feels extremely fortunate to have teamed up with Sanjay Leela Bhansali for the future Padmavati, shooting that has been an “exhausting” experience. The 31-year-old professional has previously caused Bhansali in Goliyon Ki Rasleela: Memory Leela and Bajirao Mastani.
Deepika said participating in Queen Padmavati has been one of the very most memorable roles of her career. “Personally i think extremely fortunate to have worked consistently with someone like Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Over five years and three consecutive films, back to back again, in extremely challenging, empowering and powerful assignments that he’s known to give women. Padmavati has been an exceptionally exhausting experience… We shot non-stop for almost seven-eight months. Personally i think certain people don’t leave your system,” she said.
The period-drama features Shahid Kapoor as Maharawal Ratan Singh, Rajput ruler and partner of Padmavati, played out by Deepika. Ranveer Singh, will be observed as Alauddin Khilji, the Delhi sultan, who comes in love with Padmavati.
Deepika was speaking at the start of veteran acting professional Hema Malini’s biography Hema Malini: Beyond the Fantasy Gal. Hema recalled firing for Gulzar’s Meera on a minuscule budget, where she performed the titular Rajputi princess who’s specialized in Lord Krishna.
Deepika added the finances have surely increased today but a filmmaker would still need more money to justify his perspective completely.
Padmavati produces on December 1.
