Nicole Kidman is no stranger to the pleasure of nomination morning hours. The iconic Australian actress is a four-time Oscar nominee, earning on her behalf stirring depiction of Virginia Woolf in 2002’s The Hours.

How are you feeling? Is it safe to state you were awake?

Wow. I’m just feeling a whole lot of wow. Yes, I’m large awake and intensely delighted – actually astounded that this series connected in this manner. I’m actually in LA. I’m here because my hubby (Keith Urban) is recording some music. I just lowered my kids off at camp.

It all began with a gathering with Liane Moriarty (Big Little Lies creator) at a cafe in Sydney …

I understand. It’s extraordinary. It started this with just dialogue and a e book and a camaraderie and from it bloomed a string that’s connected in such a large way … and connected worldwide.

In a time such as this, where it thought like women were being underestimated, tv set showed their power. How was it to participate that narrative?

This series was created out of your frustration of not enough roles – interesting, complicated tasks – for girls. Reese and I experienced like we weren’t being given the assignments that are type of multi-layered and beautifully written. That was the inception from it.

For this then to be compiled by David Kelley – offering complicated and funny women with pathos and working with conditions that are really of now and important and relevant.

For that to possess been embraced and connected with a world audience is merely amazing. And preferably the industry will need notice that individuals are responding. That’s the power of tv. That direct connection TV is wearing people’s lives.

Could it be bittersweet to be up against your co-star Reese?

I think we see it as a union. We’ve always been a team, we will be a team.

This is a sweet area for all of us. We’re hoping to construct a second series of it. It’s moving. We are all very particular. We only want to make it if it’s nearly as good or better, we don’t want to make another season if it’s not. So, we’ll see. – Los Angeles Times/Tribune Reports Service/Yvonne Villarreal
