Singer Marilyn Manson says that the 1999 Columbine High School shooting severely harmed his record sales.
“The Columbine time destroyed my whole career at that time,” Manson said within an interview with all the Guardian.
Manson was partly blamed for the shooting, which kept 15 dead including the two shooters, when the perpetrators were mistakenly thought to be supporters of his music. However, The Guardian mentioned that he is constantly on the fill up arenas and get roles in shows like Salem and Sons of Anarchy.
“Give them the amount of money and let them make their own choice: guns or information. If [the Columbine killers] experienced just bought my information, they would be better off. Certain people blame me for the shootings at academic institutions – I think my volumes are low, and hopefully they go up on this record,” Manson said.
He said he even received “hundreds” of loss of life threats when participating in in Colorado, the state where Columbine happened, following the shooting.”No, I don’t miss that by any means,” Manson said. “It made everyone around me annoyed. And I uncovered that police bomb pet dogs are also medication puppies. So when there have been bomb threats, I had a very difficult time covering my narcotics.”
