Ary Film Festivity 2017 Closes With A Bang
ARY Digital Network established the 1st ARY Film Festivity which finished on 7th of May, 2017 with a star-studded closing night hosted by the multitalented Faysal Qureshi and the stunning Madiha Imam.
The event was attended by the most notable celebrities and personalities of the media and film industry. Amazing shows by Sheema Kirmani, Sanam Marvi and Hamza Qawwal plus a stand-up comedy act by the public advertising star Danish Ali.
The 3 day festivity screened 33 films, that have been shortlisted from around 400 entries received from all around the globe. The jury included local and international prize winning filmmakers, freelance writers and advertising personalities such as Anwar Maqsood, Khalil Nanitalwala, Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy, Marilyn Agrelo, Ram Kishore Parcha, John Gann, Andy Merkin, Jack port McDonald and Amna Khan.
ARY Film event also came up with special screenings of internationally acclaimed films such as Maheen Zia’s ‘Lyari Records’, ‘Daring Center: The Lizzie Velazquez Story’ contributed by the American Film Show off and Anjum Shehzad’s ‘Mah e Mir’. On top of that, Academy award victor Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy’s ‘Melody of Lahore’ was also premiered at the festivity.
Prize for Best History Feature Film was presented with to ‘Choora Ek Pratha’ and Best Brief Film (Metallic Category) to ‘Amrita & I’, both were screened in cooperation with Delhi International Film Celebration. Seraj us Salikin acquired the honor for Best Brief Documentary for his film ‘Masters of the Sky’; whereas award for Best Director Brief Documentary would go to Ali Ijaz for ‘Pangolins in Peril’. ‘In Search of America’ earned the award for Best Brief Film (Yellow metal Category); Syed Fazal Hussain gained the award of Best Actor (Brief Film) for ‘Dil Tau Bacha Hai’. Best Documentary Feature prize was presented with to ‘K2 & The Invisible Footmen’ and Maheen Zia’s ‘Lyari Notes’ triumphed in the Red Category Superiority in Documentary Feature. Crimson Category Excellence in Documentary Feature was given to Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy for her film ‘Melody of Lahore’. Anjum Shehzad’s ‘Mah e Mir’ acquired the prize for Best Film – Feature.
