Rian Johnson will continue focusing on the Legend Wars franchise with the start of a fresh trilogy.
The filmmaker lately directed Superstar Wars: THE VERY LAST Jedi, however the new movies will be “separate from the episodic Skywalker saga.”
“Johnson will bring in new character types from a nook of the galaxy that Legend Wars lore hasn’t before explored,” a assertion from a rep at Lucasfilms reads.
Further details have yet to be released which is unclear when the jobs will hit theaters.
“He’s a creative force, and seeing him craft THE VERY LAST Jedi from start to end was one of the fantastic joys of my job,” Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy says. “Rian will do amazing things with the bare canvas of this new trilogy.”
As well as the films, a live-action Legend Wars series will be developed and released on Disney’s new loading service.
THE FINAL Jedi will struck theaters in December, while J.J. Abrams is time for helm 2019’s Superstar Wars: Show IX.
