Charmed reboot gets CW pilot order, offers ‘feminist’ report line BY SAEED NASIR

The Charmed reboot just landed a pilot order in the CW — plus has some really intriguing new history details.

The upgrade of the 1998 enthusiast favorite about a trio of sisters who are powerful witches will now have a rather intensifying and topical ointment take. Here’s the network’s official new information for the new incarnation of Charmed: “This fierce, funny, feminist reboot of the original series centers around three sisters in a college or university town who discover they can be witches. Between vanquishing supernatural demons, tearing down the patriarchy, and maintaining familial bonds, a witch’s work is never done.”

In another shakeup, the reboot will be set in the present day. ONCE THE CW first released the Charmed reboot last year the plan was to make it a prequel series for the WB original and occur the 1970s. That plan has been scrapped.

By preparing the new series in the present day, it also starts up the possibility of looks — or even series regular tasks? — by the show’s original ensemble members (such as Shannen Doherty, Alyssa Milano, Holly Marie Combs, and Rose McGowan).

Authors Jessica O’Toole and Amy Rardin (Jane the Virgin) are writing the script.

UPDATE: Holly Marie Combs disses Charmed reboot: Followers won’t be misled, she says

The CW also bought a pilot for a task called Deceased Inside, which … is absolutely something. Have fun with this explanation: “After making it through an explosion that wiped out her hotshot detective your government, an underachieving master cop starts discovering his ghost, flipping their sibling active on its brain and allowing her to truly live her life for the first time, as they interact to help criminal offenses victims both living and dead, and find out the unfinished business keeping his heart on the planet.”
